We firstly talked to Cécile Dekeuwer, from WeCo, a startup that concentrates its resources to offer everyone a sustainable and user-friendly sanitary system, and she was very kind to answer our questions:

  1. What inspired you to join this initiative? I received your message over LI to participate to this program and was attracted by the fact it was EIC connected and will give us the opportunity to meet with investors. The European scale of selected startups was attractive and in line with all of our work with and for the EIC. It was an opportunity to prolong and benefit from the EIC SoE.
  2. In your opinion, why is it crucial for startups and scaleups to participate in an EIC-accredited accelerator like InnovX? What unique benefits or opportunities does this accreditation offer? The “accelerator” word and purpose of your program was important to me since if there is lots of programs to launch a startup, be incubated, there are too few good ones for the acceleration phase. I have participated to an accelerator program in Switzerland (the MassChallenge Switzerland) for 4 months, and it was very good. Therefore, when I have an opportunity to participate to an accelerator, I do. Also, Innow-X is a very concrete benefit of the EIC-accredited program, and there as very few as such. So, it is worth taking the opportunity to participate to accelerator programs as InnovX, otherwise the SoE is not so useful.
  3. What advice would you give to innovative companies considering joining the EIC Program through our accelerator? How can they make the most of this unique opportunity?
I applied to the EIC program without the assistance and experience from partners as InnovX. I am confident that I would have joined the EIC program through partners as InnovX accelerator, I would have won the EIC in the last phase; that I failed in 2020 with the interview, also because it was the COVID and the first on-line interviews were problematic, at least it was for. And we were not as ready as we could have been with InnovX support. As any program or network, to get the most of it, one should be involved in the program as much as possible, participate actively, listen to the advisers who are highly experienced, and make contacts that last after the program and are also there participating to make contacts and partnerships over the years.
  4. Looking ahead, how do you envision the future of the EIC Program and InnovX 's role in nurturing and empowering innovative companies across Europe? If EIC program and InnovX continue offering concrete services to accelerate startups and scaleups, avoiding heavy and time-consuming applications process, providing professional advice from experienced experts who know what startups need the most (time and money), i.e., providing a good return on the invested time from the startups CEOs with network and helpful concrete advice to develop their businesses and raise money, the future would be beneficial for the companies and and the organizations as EIC and InnovX. For that, the EIC should stick more to what InnovX is doing: a much lighter selection process, short webinars with experts where the selected startups pitch continuously and discuss in a bilateral and proactive manner about their business development. It should be even more business focused, no administrative burden, no time-consuming selection process with advisers that do not always bring added value to the startups, no more unilateral talk from the experts where the startups just listen and are not active. It should be a direct time-efficient dialogue between the experts and the startups. As it was with InnovX, the direct dialogue with experts and strong support with a great organization from InnovX
  5. Given the exclusive nature of EIC accreditation and the extensive network it provides, how do you see this access to innovative startups and scaleups benefiting the broader European ecosystem?
The EIC reaches much largely than the EU countries members states. Considering the partnerships with affiliated countries that are very business minded and therefore successful with the EIC as UK, Israel, Switzerland (soon again…) and more and more that are joining considering the attractiveness of the EIC accreditation, it will give the startups the access to a much larger and international network with these third parties countries that do not have per se the chance to benefit from large public funding as we do, and they are as such more used to develop their business without the public funding.
  6. InnovX-EIC is a program dedicated to accelerating startups all over Europe and the affiliated countries. How do you see the potential for companies participating in this program to leverage international markets as a launchpad for global expansion? The European accredited program providing labels as the EIC are very well recognized in third party countries as for example in Asia where I work for more than 20 years. Because of the official nature of these program from the European authorities and organizations that have great reputation and recognition in other continents, it constitutes a fantastic opportunity for European companies to expand outside of Europe with such labels and official recognition. 1700574840566.jpeg

By curating a network of high-potential companies, EIC facilitates cross-collaboration and knowledge exchange, fostering a culture of innovation that transcends individual entities. 1700733595225.png 1700733597090.png With the same questions, Jakub Kisiel from Travatar claimed: What inspired you to join this initiative? I joined the initiative to gain insights and expertise from experts and founders, especially in the Romanian startup ecosystem, which I was initially unfamiliar with but had heard a lot about. I am glad that I could establish many contacts with like-minded entrepreneurs. I am very satisfied about the positive experiences and the amount of knowledge I gained during the program. In your opinion, why is it crucial for startups and scaleups to participate in an EIC-accredited accelerator like InnovX? What unique benefits or opportunities does this accreditation offer? Participation in an EIC-accredited accelerator like InnovX is essential for startups and scaleups at every stage, primarily because the journey of a startup requires constant acquisition of new and varied knowledge. Without guidance and consultations with experienced mentors, the risk of failure significantly increases, especially given that the majority of startups fail within their first two years. Being part of programs like InnovX significantly reduces this risk. The high-quality mentorship, well-organized workshops that focus on substantial and specific content (the 'meat' of the business), access to investors, and a network of industry experts and potential partners that InnovX offers, provide startups with crucial support. This comprehensive approach not only equips startups to navigate the challenging business landscape but also substantially increases their chances of success. What advice would you give to innovative companies considering joining the EIC Program through our accelerator? How can they make the most of this unique opportunity? The program I participated in was short but intense. I recommend fully engaging in every aspect of the program – networking, seeking feedback, and being open to learning and adapting business model based on expert insights. Looking ahead, how do you envision the future of the EIC Program and InnovX's role in nurturing and empowering innovative companies across Europe? I believe that in the next few years, the market will undergo significant changes, particularly due to the development of artificial intelligence. This will influence how we function, learn, and conduct business. Along with the benefits, there are many risks associated with artificial intelligence, including a potential rise in hacker attacks and the scale of internet fraud, which will profoundly impact society. Therefore, companies in Europe should exchange knowledge and experience and collaboratively develop technological solutions to lessen the scale of online fraud, especially in areas like fake news, disinformation, dating scams, or financial abuses that could affect the elderly and the highly sensitive. I think EIC programs should especially support initiatives in the cybersecurity sector, such as Travatar.ai. I envision the EIC Program and InnovX continuing to play a vital role in supporting innovative companies, fostering connections between regions in Europe, and providing them with a springboard for global success. Given the exclusive nature of EIC accreditation and the extensive network it provides, how do you see this access to innovative startups and scaleups benefiting the broader European ecosystem? Access to startups is satisfying, and I believe it's important to promote all kinds of cooperation among startups. It's important to recognize that startups at various stages need different types of support. While meetings with mismatched groups might be unproductive, sometimes a random conversation with another founder or mentor can subtly alter our trajectory. Imagine navigating from point A to point B on a map, a small change in direction, even just a few degrees in a full circle, can lead us to a completely different destination over time. This slight shift, though minor at the outset, can significantly influence our long-term journey, saving considerable time in reaching a new, unforeseen destination. Such minor course adjustments can profoundly impact our end result. The network that EIC accreditation provides are invaluable, granting startups and scaleups unique access to resources and collaboration opportunities, thus enriching the European ecosystem. InnovX-EIC is a program dedicated to accelerating startups all over Europe and the affiliated countries. How do you see the potential for companies participating in this program to leverage international markets as a launchpad for global expansion? The startups in our group presented a diverse range of individuals, each bringing their own unique experiences. While most founders were acutely aware of their product's value proposition, a few, tending towards dreaminess, seemed less open to negative feedback. I hope any setbacks will be taken as valuable lessons and prove minimally distressing for these entrepreneurs. I also saw projects with huge potential, I hope to hear about their success soon, I will be keeping an eye on their progress. This program opens doors to international markets, offering participants a chance to test their ideas and business models. It's crucial to make the most of this opportunity. Travatar is a cybersecurity aplication that combats ad fraud and fake traffic. It detects non-human activity and highlights optimal marketing decisions for business growth. Using advanced technologies such as behavioral biometrics, AI, and NLP, Travatar aims to counteract the projected losses from ad fraud in 2023, which could reach as much as $100 billion. It ensures secure data sharing to reduce online fraud and enhance business operations.

1700737121982.jpeg With the same questions, Ben Zaneti fromUpdraw claimed:

  1. What inspired you to join this initiative? Over the past eight years, as the CEO and founder of Anima.ey, my dedication was toward revolutionizing child protection through the implementation of an AI-driven system to identify cases of child sexual abuse (CSA). While our primary focus remained on developing the platform's technological capabilities, I regretfully couldn't dedicate as much time to nurturing the customer and business aspects. Despite this, we successfully engineered an AI-powered system boasting an 86% accuracy rate in detecting CSA cases. However, we encountered significant hurdles in marketing and selling the product. This experience led me to pivot towards attending Innovx with my new project, UpDraw. Despite my extensive expertise, I consciously approached the Innovx program with a fresh perspective, specifically seeking innovative tools and insights tailored to investors, business operations, and fostering customer relationships. My goal was to leverage the wealth of experience I bring while remaining open-minded to acquire novel strategies that will propel my new venture. Embracing change and seeking guidance in refining investor relations, business strategies, and customer engagement were at the core of my intentions during the program.
  2. In your opinion, why is it crucial for startups and scaleups to participate in an EIC-accredited accelerator like InnovX? What unique benefits or opportunities does this accreditation offer? Participating in an EIC-accredited accelerator like InnovX holds immense value for startups seeking feedback and exposure. The program facilitates connections with a diverse range of investors and partners, potentially fostering pivotal collaborations. Particularly for early-stage startups lacking exposure, it's transformative. The program's guidance on presentations, feedback integration, and networking within a short period is crucial. This structured approach expedites learning and progress, an aspect I believe is essential. It's better to swiftly reassess projects with valuable advice rather than investing years without beneficial guidance, allowing for timely decision-making and potential project redirection.
  3. What advice would you give to innovative companies considering joining the EIC Program through our accelerator? How can they make the most of this unique opportunity? My top advice would be: approach the opportunity with an open mind. Regardless of your expertise or funding, maximize your participation by prioritizing learning throughout the process. Embrace every chance to absorb new insights. The true value lies not just in what you know or have raised, but in the willingness to continually learn and adapt. By doing so, you can extract the most from the experience and potentially uncover game-changing perspectives for your venture.
  4. Looking ahead, how do you envision the future of the EIC Program and InnovX 's role in nurturing and empowering innovative companies across Europe? I hold immense optimism for the EIC Program's future, envisioning InnovX as a central force in fostering innovation across Europe. Witnessing the caliber of talent and startups involved, I'm confident this program is primed for a prosperous future, potentially spawning numerous success stories. As these startups thrive, I anticipate an exponential increase in demand for the InnovX program. Additionally, I foresee that among the participating companies, even if it's a select few, there will be notable successes—raising substantial funds or achieving IPOs. This success will likely draw considerable interest from major venture capital firms and potentially the EU itself, prompting increased investment in future companies participating in InnovX.
  5. Given the exclusive nature of EIC accreditation and the extensive network it provides, how do you see this access to innovative startups and scaleups benefiting the broader European ecosystem? To be candid, I believe it's premature to provide a definitive answer at this stage. From my experience, the realization of benefits often takes time. I've received numerous positive compliments and connections, which I'm currently observing and learning from in real-time. Thus, I anticipate having a clearer and more informed perspective in the coming months. My hope is to transform these connections into valuable opportunities, allowing me to speak from firsthand experience and provide a more insightful response based on the tangible outcomes achieved.
  6. InnovX-EIC is a program dedicated to accelerating startups all over Europe and the affiliated countries. How do you see the potential for companies participating in this program to leverage international markets as a launchpad for global expansion? As I highlighted in my previous answers, this program holds immense strategic value through potential partnerships and connections with investors capable of opening doors to opportunities. However, it's premature for me to provide a definitive assessment as I'm yet to experience a success story firsthand. Nevertheless, I'm highly optimistic about the potential for significant developments in the coming months, which would enable me to share my personal experiences. In my humble opinion, the potential for companies participating in the InnovX-EIC program to leverage international markets for global expansion is substantial. The program offers an invaluable platform for startups to access international networks, build cross-border relationships, and gain exposure to diverse markets. With the right connections and support garnered from the program, these companies possess a strong potential to leverage their participation as a springboard for successful global expansion strategies
